What is the scheme for?
The Better Basic Broadband Subsidy Scheme has been developed by the UK government to provide access to a subsidised broadband installation to homes and businesses that are unable to access a broadband service with a download speed of at least 2Mbps and who will not benefit from the county council's superfast broadband programme. The Scheme has been developed by the UK government to ensure that every household and business in the UK can access an affordable basic broadband service.
The Better Broadband Scheme has been extended for a further year until 31st December 2019, ensuring that a subsidised basic broadband installation remains available to eligible applicants.
In support of this extension, BDUK is taking the opportunity to improve the scheme's processes and functionality in order to deliver a more efficient and effective service.
The existing application process closed at midday on 31st December 2018 and following a brief pause to implement the necessary changes, BDUK aim to re-launch the Better Broadband Voucher Scheme by the end of January 2019.
Further information will shortly be made available.
